Allergy testing

Allergies can be a risk factor for eczema and by finding allergic triggers and reducing exposure to those triggers much can be done to reduce symptoms.

Allergy testing may involve:
  • Blood Tests - A blood sample is taken to measure total IgE levels and specific IgE levels to suspected allergies such as nuts or milk.

  • Skin Prick Tests - Skin prick tests can be useful to confirm or exclude a penicillin or latex allergy.

  • Patch Testing - Patch testing can be arranged to confirm or exclude a contact allergic dermatitis.
